Meet Levi Hutchins, inventor and loving husband.

In 1787, Hutchins invented the first mechanical alarm clock.

Unfortunately, and much to his wife's dismay, the alarm would only ring at four in the morning.

"Good God, Levi! Can't you get that annoying gizmo out of its room? It doesn't work!"

"Go back to sleep, I'll fix it."

Hutchins worked on his alarm clock for many days.

He was determined to make it work.

He would not quit.

And sadly, it was to no avail.

Fix it.

Levi!

I'll fix it.

Can't you invent something that's much quieter?

Go back to sleep.
